Hello there. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about how I found my calling to be a doula and placenta arts specialist.
After the birth of my first daughter in 2012 via caesarean, I was determined to give my second child a better start to life. My research led me to employ an independent midwife and to have a very healing and empowering homebirth with my second daughter 21 months later. Seeing the vastly different care I received, and the impact it had on myself and my family, I decided I wanted to help others achieve better births. It just so happened that Jo Lockhart, from Hartfelt Services, was looking for a co-facilitator to the Positive Birth Meets she was starting up and I jumped at the opportunity. Not long after, Jo offered me to work alongside her at Hartfelt Services and to support her in the birth of her 3rd child. So I completed my doula training in Perth in early 2015.
All the free flowing oxytocin led to the very unexpected pregnancy and birth of my 3rd child, my first boy, in 2016, which was again very much empowering and life changing. My maternity leave was spent furthering my career by studying placentophagy through APPA (The Association of Placenta Preparation Arts). I am excited to now offer different placenta services to my clients alongside birth blessing ceremonies, baby blessing ceremonies and my doula services.
I have been fortunate enough to support families in their birth journeys since July 2015. Every single birth I have attended has been deeply profound and I feel incredibly honoured to have been invited to share those moments with my families. A heartfelt thank you to all my beautiful clients, for trusting me to accompany them along their journey.
I am looking forward to help many more women find the power within themselves to fight for, and work towards, the birth they desire. The birth that is right for them. No matter what that looks like.
