I’m Caroline, a Pregnancy, Birth & Postpartum Doula servicing Sydney women and families. I want to support you so that you feel confident, safe and excited to have a positive birth experience, whatever it may look like.
I recognise that different families have different needs and values. I offer non-judgemental support, evidence based information and hands-on comfort-measures (if you like) to help ensure you have the best opportunity to have the birth experience you want. As a Mum I’ve given birth three times. Each was a different and unique experience, all in their own ways tough and challenging – but also incredible. There is no right or best way to approach childbirth. You and your partner (if you have one) will bring your own personality, values and preferences to the occasion.
What matters is that you have good information, that you are able to make your own choices and that you are supported along the way. My job is to help make this happen for you. My own first birth resulted in a Caesarean, and my next two births were VBACs. I chose to work with a doula for my second and third births, so I know the value that a doula can offer.
Since training with the Australian Doula College I’ve taken workshops with Optimal Maternal Positioning (OMP) and Spinning Babies, providing me with knowledge to support Mothers to create balance and space in their body to help allow babies to get into a good position for birth. I’ve also studied Acupressure, Birth Mapping, undertaken the VBAC workshop with Hazel Keedle, and When Survivors Give Birth – Understanding and Healing the effects of Trauma and Sexual Abuse on Childbearing Families
I love working with families of all shapes and sizes including Solo Mums by choice; Families with Disabilities; Same-Sex couples and Surrogate families – as well as Mothers having their next birth after a caesarean section (VBAC / NBAC).
Whether you’re giving birth in a hospital, birth centre or at home – I’d love to support you.
