Hi, my name is Sarah.
I am 43 years old with 2 children aged 14 and 11. I am a Birth and Postnatal Doula in Brisbane. I service the metro areas as well as Ipswich, Gold Coast, and Caboolture.

Even though I love babies I love mothers more! The rite of passage in becoming a mother is one that needs to be nurtured, cared for, loved and honored. This is why I am a Doula. To be with you in this life changing time of your life.

Both of my births were very different from each other. With my second birth I found that with a continual support system in place, being more educated on the birth process and making informative choices during my pregnancy I was able to have a birth that still to this day amazes me. It amazes me on how wonderful us women are and how even more wonderful we are with the correct support.

I am a non-judgmental Doula that will assist you and your partner (who ever that may be).
I will attend to your birth wherever you wish to be.
I will attend to your birth however you wish to birth.
I will be there for you so that all you need to do on the day of giving birth, is just birth. You, your partner and I will work as a team beforehand to create your birth plan and birth wishes. When the time comes we will all be certain of what you would like to achieve and we will all do our very best for you to have the outcome you desire.

*Emailed questionnaire for you and your partner to discuss and answer in time for the first session.

*On call 2 weeks before your due date until your beautiful baby is born.
*I will be there for you for your labour from when you would like me to be, all through until baby is born and up to 2 hours after. If you would like for me to be with you at your home before moving to the hospital, I can do that or meet you at the hospital.
*1 postnatal visit of 2.5-3 hours at your home in the first 2 weeks after birth. This is to debrief your birth, discuss baby care, breastfeeding help, general housekeeping duties etc. I also gift a book called Parenting by Heart authored by Pinky Mckay.

Our postnatal sessions are for me to be there to help you and your family in those first days and weeks after bringing baby home. I am there to nurture the family in this time of transition and to share, comfort, listen and to Mother the Mother'.

Before your birth, an initial obligation free meeting (30-60 mins) at a mutually agreed place. Generally, a café at a halfway point between our homes. To see if we are a good fit for each other.

A block of 5 visits after your baby is born with each session between 2.5-3 hours

A 1-hour maximum visit to your home before the birth. This first visit will be to discuss what support you will require, help with setting up your family home for your babies’ homecoming and advising on babies and your needs immediately after birth. Also, to provide help with arranging other support networks for the weeks and months ahead.

These services as my role as a Postnatal Doula are;

*Evidenced based breastfeeding/formula feeding support.
*Help with the emotional and physical recovery after birth.
*Assistance with newborn care such as changing, bathing, feeding and comforting.
*Light housekeeping duties such as dishes, clothes washing and folding, general tidying up.
*Running errands with mum. The first trip out can feel daunting and it’s an idea to get that one out of the way, together.
*Baby soothing techniques.
*Sibling care
*Help with the emotional adjustment of becoming a mother.
*Referrals to local resources such as parenting classes, pediatricians, lactation support and support groups.

Then there is the most important service! Allowing mum to have a break by looking after her baby so she can go and have a shower and wash her hair uninterrupted.

Extra sessions of care can be added to either of my Birth Doula and Postnatal support packages.
These sessions are priced at a discounted rate.
Add on sessions to a maximum of 4 extra sessions. To be utilised within 6 weeks after birth.
