Hi, My name is Tamika Colborne.

I am a pregnancy, birth and postpartum doula at Blooming Mothers Doula Services, in the Gladstone and surrounding areas.

I am also a proud mother of three boys.

When I became a mother, I realised how little support women have in what is the biggest and most memorable part of our lives, so I set out on a path to help change that by becoming a doula.

I felt it was my calling to be there for women open heartedly and with no judgment, to help give a positive birthing experience. To give you the strength and power to birth your baby. To give you guidance through this journey. To give you knowledge so that you can feel empowered and fearless in making the right decision for you and your baby. But mostly to give you love and support to make you feel calm and safe.

I feel enthusiastic and devoted to educating Gladstone and opening up a whole new world of birthing.

I would love to be your Doula, supporting you and watching you blossom and bloom by guiding you through your journey to motherhood and beyond.

Cost: $55 per person

For circles of less than 6 attendees, a flat fee of $300 still applies

Please book at least 2 weeks in advance

No preparation is needed by the mother

Please ensure your guests bring a bead and a plate of food to the ceremony

A Mother Blessing is a beautiful and unique way to honour the mother as the beautiful pregnant Goddess that she is with so many wonderful activities such as:

60 minute mandala belly painting session (before or during the circle)

60-70 minute ceremony guided by Tamika

Everything needed for the ceremony – fresh blooms, oracle cards, crystals, thread, candles, foot soak,pens, birthing t shirt, nail polish and essential oils

Crystals to be gifted to the mother by each woman, infused with their blessings

The mother is FREE, and she’ll receive extra gifts of essential oil spray blend for the remaining of her pregnancy and birth

Head and shoulder massage for mum;

Hair Braiding;

A aromatherapy foot bath/soak

Candle lighting and sharing of a special message from each participant to the mum for the journey ahead.

Small Hanna art for each of your guests

Birth Mandalas or Positive Affirmation flags;

Designing a birthing shirt by everyone drawing or writing something special

Guided Meditation and Visualisation;

Bead Ceremony – each participant brings a bead to create a birthing necklace or bracelet for the mother to wear during birth to remind her of all the love and support that she has around her. Each bead represents the good wishes and blessings for the mother as she embarks on her journey of motherhood;

Cord Ceremony – binding each person’s wrist or ankle with a single cord of wool or string. Everyone then keeps the string around their wrists or ankles until they hear that the birth has started – then they all cut the cord as a symbol of unity. Plus the cord is a nice way to remind others to be thinking of the mother;

Sharing positive birth stories;

Discussing and releasing any fears she may have;

Encouraging and supporting her birth choices;

Organising a meal roster – this is about getting everyone who comes to commit to making one or two dinners on a particular day for the family. The idea is to try to cover two weeks at least where the new parents won’t have to worry about at least one meal of the day so they can just focus on their baby moon period.

Celebration Feast

For the Mother Blessing,

each guest will bring a plate of food to share and there will be much love and laughter.
