"I am so grateful for the support Portia provided during the late stages of pregnancy, labour, and the postpartum period. From the very beginning, she was calm, responsive, and incredibly reassuring, helping to reduce my anxiety and making the entire experience more positive.

She is someone who truly exudes calm, care, knowledge, and strength. From the start, I knew she had my back every step of the way.

Portia took the time to answer my questions thoroughly and shared practical, evidence-based techniques that made a real difference during labour. Her continuous presence and steady support helped us feel grounded and cared for throughout the entire process.

As a first-time mother, I was understandably nervous and had no idea what to expect from the birthing experience, especially with an awareness of what can go wrong. However, the preparation, guidance, and childbirth education Portia provided allowed me to feel genuinely empowered and confident going into labour.

Portia was respectful of the hospital system while also advocating for my birth wishes when they differed from the midwives’ and doctors’ plans. She calmly requested that the midwives allow more time for consultation and ensured I felt comfortable and supported every step of the way.

The birth was a positive, physiological, unmedicated experience, and I felt safe and supported throughout the 12 hours of labour.

She not only supported me but also helped my mother feel confident in the birthing room, while seamlessly facilitating communication with hospital staff.

I honestly wouldn’t choose to birth without a doula again and would highly recommend Portia to anyone wanting to feel informed, supported, and empowered throughout their birth journey.

Portia was on hand with massage, essential oils, TENS machine troubleshooting, mood lighting, music, and helped create an overall sense of calm and positivity.

Her massage skills really helped labour progress more quickly, which undoubtedly made a huge difference. She clearly knew exactly what support was needed and when. She was a wonderful cheerleader during the final stages of labour, when you have to give it everything you’ve got.

After the birth, Portia stayed until I was settled with my baby and also took some beautiful photos. I had wanted an unmedicated hospital birth, and Portia helped me achieve that. Despite the sterile hospital setting, she created a calm and serene environment and worked seamlessly with the medical staff. It was truly invaluable to have her by my side during the birth.

Post-delivery, Portia checked in on me and came for a couple of postpartum visits, where she offered invaluable advice and support as a first-time mum. She also made some lovely lactation cookies.
